On April 7, 2017 the exhibition 'Forbidden Porcelain - Exclusively for the emperor' in Museum Prinsenhof Delft, has been opened by queen majesty Maxima. The exhibition shows a selection of the work that David Derksen has made during his artist in residence in Jingdezhen, China. These works are shown alongside work of other Dutch and Chinese contemporary artists.
The contemporary works are inspired by the antique Chinese porcelain that has been excavated in Jingdezhen and that were made for the Chinese emperors. This antique collection is shown for the first time outside of China, and forms the central theme of the exhibition.
The collection of David Derksen is the result of his research of two themes; intended deformation and packing & stacking.
